Why You Should Invest In A Graphic Designer And Brand Consultant!

It only takes a few seconds for a potential customer to form a perception of your brand and considering 90% of purchasing decisions are made subconsciously, you need to ensure that you are forming a strong emotional connection with the right audience - THE FIRST TIME!

Everyone knows how important a first impression is and when it comes to your company or organisation, this initial interaction is even more essential as if it is negative, it will be the last. When was the last time you saw a company that you didn't connect with and went back to check if you could connect with them later? Probably never, as you most likely wouldn't even remember their name!

In our previous posts we've covered the basics of branding and what happens if you choose not to brand actively. If you haven't read those already, have a look using the links below as there's valuable information to be obtained in those as well!

So now that you know why you need to brand, let's discuss how you do it! You could be 6-days into your business or 6-years, regardless of your current position you can re-assess your branding at any time and it might just be the best decision you make for your business - so don't delay another day!

Everyone needs help in certain aspects of their business, because to put it bluntly - we can't do everything ourselves and do it at an expert standard! I mean, we could all attempt surgery, but wouldn't you rather go to a surgeon? The obvious answer is yes! So let's put this in the context of your brand:

If money wasn't an issue, would you rather have branding that you can make yourself, or have an expert designer and brand consultant do it for you?

Unless you are highly-skilled in branding and design, the answer is obvious once again - of course you would want the professional!

In most cases, the main factor that influences the battle of Expert Vs DIY is money! But the key question you need to ask yourself is: How much are your branding errors actually costing you? We'll dive into this more later, but first let's get into what Graphic Designers and Brand Consultants actually do!

OUR ROLE AS YOUR GRAPHIC DESIGNER & BRAND CONSULTANT:

WHAT IS A BRAND CONSULTANT?

A Brand Consultant's job is to:

  • Analyse a company or organisation's industry, products and/or services.

  • Evaluate the brand's performance.

  • Create and develop a brand's identity and strategy.

WHAT IS A GRAPHIC DESIGNER?

Graphic Designing refers to the visual presentation of information that has been developed through a creative process for a particular purpose. Graphic Designers create concepts by hand or through computer-based software to communicate ideas that engage, educate and excite customers.

LONG TERM BRANDING Vs SHORT TERM BRANDING

When we say 'Long-term branding' we are not referring to branding that will be the same in 10 years time - there are a number of factors that can cause your branding to change throughout the life of your business! We are referring to:

BRANDING THAT HAS BEEN DEFINED BY A STRONG BRAND PLAN/STRATEGY. IT HAS BEEN THOUGHT OUT AND ALLOWS YOUR BUSINESS TO MEET ITS GOALS, THUS STRENGTHENING THE COMPANY OVERALL!

Short-term branding on the other hand is branding that solves the immediate problem. For example: Let's say you make wigs for fun and one day someone says they want to buy one. To look a bit more professional, you create a logo and make a quick price-list on a graphic design app - Problem solved...right?

Well, not quite. Long-term branding is fantastic because it will fulfil the 3 main branding goals:

  • Gaining customer loyalty

  • Making your product or service stand out

  • Establishing market leadership

Whereas, Short-term branding fulfils today's goal and not necessarily tomorrow's.

CAREER Vs HOBBY

Not every business starts out as such! For some, it may start out as a hobby or time-filler which is then turned into a company or organisation. However, the concept of branding is the same regardless of whether your projects are for fun or for FUNDS!

The only difference is that poor branding can be detrimental when it's for funds as you have a product or service to offer as opposed to an interest or talent that you just want to share.

GENERATORS Vs DESIGNERS

"...But why should I pay when I have an app that I can design with" - This is the question I get asked when someone is trying to make me fumble (haha) and to be honest, it's actually a good question!

A lot of you would have heard about apps like Canva that aim to "democratise design' by giving everybody the power to create designs in minutes. However, as wonderful as it is that everyone can now 'drag and drop' their way to a brand identity, Canva and other similar apps do not replace Graphic Designers and Brand Consultants.

Key branding elements like your logo, business cards and other important marketing tools are often the first thing that a potential client will see, and there's a reason people say "you don’t get a second chance to make a first impression". Key elements like those mentioned before require the skill and experience of a Graphic Designer and Brand Consultant like us!

These apps can give you the tools to make designs but the knowledge and understanding of great branding doesn't come with it unfortunately! This is exactly why we feel that design apps and Graphic Designers should co-exist!

HOW MUCH ARE YOUR BRANDING ERRORS COSTING YOU?

By now we hope you're getting the gist! There's more to branding than just a few designs put together and because of this you should now be realising that strengthening your branding will strengthen your company in general. With this being said, think about the things you have cut corners on.

Are those business cards you quickly made up on app going to engage the recipient enough for them to actually keep it? Or is it on the floor, in the pocket of someone’s jeans with all corners bent?

What about that website? How many of your potential customers are clicking off as soon as they've jumped on? Did they even visit the site in the first place?

DIY branding may save you money but it can cause you to lose time, credibility and sales - All of which are worth more than the couple £100s you saved doing it yourself!

WHAT'S YOUR BUDGET?

Some people find this question a bit daunting because they don't want to a say a higher figure when they could pay less but this question isn't designed to catch you out - we literally want to know what your budget is!

It's no secret that you get what you pay for. If your budget is £100 you will get less than if you had a £500 budget. However, a lower budget doesn't mean lower quality at Designed By Jujubeng. We welcome clients at all stages of business from the beginners all the way to the experts and dealing with a diverse range of customers means we are used to working around different sized budgets.
