For us to have a wider stance in the UK business space, more trusted information needs to be accessible so we can evidence our issues and tackle our obstacles.

As a brand developer with a predominantly Black audience – access to statistics has always been crucial to my work. However, at the same time, it has proved to be extremely difficult to find them. According to a government report published in 2021 (revised in January 2022), just 5% of UK SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) were BAME-led which means even less are black-led.

The amount of space we take up in the UK business scene has a high correlation to the amount of reliable statistical evidence available about us. The DBJ Project aims to change this.
